Been up since 2:30 or 3am, obsessing over fun themes like the mortality of parents (always a classic), and children in poverty (the theme of my sermon on the 12th); not to mention the details of planning the special order of service on the 12th (National Children's Sabbath) which include special music, a skit by the youth group on youth homelessness, special readers, different music and so on and so forth.
Mainly I'm concerned about getting a draft of the sermon done in the next couple of days -- which ought to be a tightly focused inspiration-packed 13 minutes max, but God help me, I tend to run long --
and my kid has been in and out of his bed twice tonight, as if sleeplessness were catching, which I believe it sometimes does.
Al, I'm sorry I haven't called back yet. I will. Soon.
Will somebody please come over here and give me a good massage, or a fistful of antihistamines, or something??
Ah, nevermind.

Hi Hon,
Be of good cheer. ;-)
I'm in Birmingham, AL.
Last night at dinner the speaker was the author of a book called...Three cups of Tea...or something very similar...anyway....wow, what an inspirational story. It's one of those stories that makes you feel like you've done nothing with your life. I mean this guy is helping to educate a country, Afghanistan. Me...I sell comics.
I got the book personalized. Can't wait to read it.
He does...I read.
Sigh. Aw well. I guess doing the right thing on any given day will have to do.
Smooches,
Alan
